Body Composition:

We strongly encourage patients to undergo a body-fat analysis initially and
each month thereafter.  Most people who diet lose muscle and bone instead
of fat.  Monthly weigh-ins will ensure that the lean body mass increases and
    that body-fat composition decreases.  This is a $15 value, a must-do for
everyone, especially those who exercise regularly.

DVDs and Printed Media:

    Walk-Aerobic Videos
These are low-impact, safe, and effective tapes that both tone and
aerobisize to maximize results.  Especially for patients who want to get in
better shape at home so they can feel confident at the gym.

    Food Diary and Calorie-Counter Books
Those calories and fat grams add up during the day.  It is important,
especially at the beginning of your comprehensive weight-loss program, to get
into good habits and record in a diary everything you eat.  Knowing the
carbohydrate and fat content of food and how much is consumed is half the
    battle.

Fad diets don’t work because you never learn how to eat a well-balanced
diet, and that weight comes right back.

Obviously, your food diary will tell you how many calories you have
consumed.  The Basal Metabolic Weight (BMR) indicates how many calories
are burned daily.  Weight gain occurs when more calories are consumed than
    burned.
